ABOUT
Gothic Instruments are Dan Graham and Adam Hanley. Dan has produced sample libraries including Animato and Rise Designer (Zero G) and is the founder of Gothic Storm Music. Adam scripted those Zero G titles, owns Icebreaker Audio and has scripted many blockbuster products for Native Instruments and Heavyocity. The incredible audio in the Hybrid Edition was made by Hollywood trailer sound designer Alessandro Camnasio (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Mad Max). The DRONAR logo and background was designed by Sam Hayles with dial animations by Koke Núñez Gómez and box art by Ryo Ishido.
All DRONAR’S strings-based loops are from live recordings of string players from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Continuo has 3 main screens where you can set and edit your sounds.
MAIN SCREEN
Browsing through patches with Main view gives you a very basic feedback about the default midi controls so you can focus only on the sounds and not distracted by the software controls.
EDITOR SCREEN
You can edit and mix your patches in the Editor Screen. Every patch contains 4 slots which means you can play up to 4 individual Sound Modules at the same time.
MASTER SCREEN
While on the Editor Screen you can edit and mix 4 Sound Modules, on the Master Screen you can adjust the whole patch’s sound.

ADVANCED TIP
The 4 Slots are basically 4 Audio Groups, so they can be turned off (=muted) or on. Effect Sends in the other hand are effecting the whole Patch, meaning if you add sends on any of a Slot and you mute, the Effect Sends will still operate in the background by adding a blurry sound to the whole mix. In order to turn completely off the Effect Sends on the muted Slots you need to manually turn down on these muted Slots too.

You will get the best results from DRONAR by assigning at least the main 6 dials on the MAIN page GUI to knobs on an external MIDI controller.
EXTERNAL MIDI CONTROLLER OPTIONS:
- MIDI KEYBOARD KNOBS: Many MIDI keyboards have knobs thatoutput MIDI cc data.
- DEDICATED CONTROL SURFACE: Popular and inexpensive control surfaces with MIDI cc knobs include the KORG nanoKONTROL2, Behringer X-Touch Mini DAW controller, Novation Nocturn and more.
- SMARTPHONE / TABLET APPS: apps capable of creating MIDI cc output include TouchOSC and JazzMutant Lemur.
- LEAP MOTION + GecoMIDI software: highly recommended is the Leap Motion 3D infrared gesture-based controller using 3rd party GecoMIDI software (available on the Leap App Store). A preset for GecoMIDI pre- mapped to work beautifully with DRONAR has been created and placed in the /Extras folders.
-
DEFAULT GUI DIAL-TO-MIDI CONTROLLER MAPPINGS:
Each DRONAR preset has been set up with the following cc controllers mapped by default:
- CC01 ➜ INTENSITY dial (the Mod Wheel is mapped to cc1).
- CC14 ➜ MOVEMENT dial
DRONAR’s Hybrid Module comes with 300 presets designed to show its amazing potential, divided into 20 categories.
The raw audio samples were mainly created by blockbuster Hollywood trailer sound designer Alessandro Camnasio, but also contain multi-layered expressive performances of live world- class strings from Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra players.
TOP STRINGS SECRET: the raw sound quality and expressiveness of DRONAR’S string patches match many premium orchestral sample library string sustains. We’re just not shouting about it because DRONAR is for atmospheres, not orchestral mockups, but it’s good to know.
.NKA DRONE PRESETS:
Found in the /Data folder, these are individual Drone presets that can be loaded onto individual Drone Keys in an active, loaded patch.
The factory presets in the /Instruments menu are all built up from these individual .nka Drone presets.
TO LOAD KONTAKT INSTRUMENT (.NKI) PRESETS:
Either navigate to the /Instruments folder in the Kontakt file browser, or alternatively open the same folder in Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac) and drag the .nki file onto an open instance of Konkakt.
