Meet the Team – Feri: The Head of Production with a DJ’s Ear

As Karanyi Sounds continues to celebrate its first anniversary, we’re excited to introduce you to a key player in our product development process. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Feri, our head of production, who has been with us for three years and brings a unique blend of technical know-how and musical intuition to our team.

Feri isn’t just managing timelines and resources; he’s orchestrating and creating tools that resonate with real-world music makers. With a background as a DJ and producer, Feri brings a user’s perspective to every project he oversees. His role ensures that when you use a Karanyi Sounds product, you’re benefiting from a deep understanding of what artists truly need in the studio and on stage.

Let’s dive into Feri’s world of project management, music production, and the art of balancing creativity with practicality:

Q: What was your first instrument?

A: My first instrument was the drum, which I started learning as a kid. At 14, I shifted to electronic music after being blown away by the sounds of modern electronic music and started producing with a free tracker called Fasttracker 2.

Q: What motivates you when working on a new product?

A: Creating products that I would personally love to use in my studio. The appeal lies in crafting unique sounds and simple workflows that enhance the creative process.

Q: What challenges do you encounter in your work, and how do you solve them?

A: One common challenge is balancing creativity with practicality. I address this by focusing on the core functionalities that have the greatest impact while ensuring the product remains intuitive and user-friendly.

Q: How do you see the future of music software and VSTs?

A: In the distant future, I can imagine brain chips enabling people to translate their thoughts directly into music. In the near future, I see AI-assisted software becoming more integrated into music production.

Q: What music genres do you listen to most often, and how does this influence your work?

A: My taste is quite broad. I prefer less commercial, club-friendly subgenres of electronic music like Indie Dance, Melodic House, Bass House, and Techno below 135 bpm. I also enjoy chill-out music and rock and have a guilty pleasure for 90s gangsta hip hop.

Q: What are your favorite products from us and why?

A: My two favorites are Analog Nightmares and Minipol. I love Analog Nightmares for its retro synth sounds that still feel modern. Whenever I need a unique pad or atmsphere, I layer it over a more standard string or pad, and there it is. And I love Minipol for its distinct, a bit nostalgic virtual analog sound, which is perfect for my synthwave/indie dance productions.

Feri’s diverse musical background and passion for creating innovative, user-friendly products play crucial roles in shaping Karanyi Sounds’ offerings. His insights into the future of music technology and broad musical tastes contribute to the versatility and forward-thinking nature of our products.

As we continue to push the boundaries of audio software, team members like Feri ensure that our products not only meet the current needs of musicians but also anticipate future trends in music production. Stay tuned for more team spotlights as we celebrate our first year at Karanyi Sounds.
