The Budapest Marimba is a contemporary instrument designed for creating fast sequences and inspiring tremolo beds in modern sound production. Unlike traditional marimba libraries, we focused on capturing transient-rich, bright sounds. We also added some synth and ambience sublayers to ensure that the instrument fits in any genre, from electronic and jazz to film score.
We captured a Adams Concert Marimba and added synth and ambience sublayers to fit any genre. The library has 3 mixable mic positions (close and mid) and analog synth layers, tape, dimension, and space effects. Recorded in Budapest, played by Nandor Weisz, percussionist of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra for a pro-level sound.
Abstract Marimba is a library of six different hit and tremolo instruments played with various sticks, hands, and brush. It has four velocity layers, six octaves, and 17 GUI controls, including instrument switch, attack-decay control, room mix adjustment, EQ presets, tape, chorus, reverb, and master compressor. The instrument was recorded with 2 x AT35 (Mid Mix) + Shure SM57 (Close Mix) on Universal Audio Apollo X, in a dry studio in Budapest. All GUI elements are MIDI learnable.
This library includes 15 additional sublayers sampled from various Oberheim and Dave Smith synthesizers. It also features 1 to 3 velocity layers per instrument and spans 6 octaves per instrument.
Nandor Weisz is a percussionist who graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Germany. He has been a percussionist with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra for over twenty years. The orchestra is led by the world-famous pianist, composer, and conductor Zoltán Kocsis. Weisz is one of the most prominent figures in the Hungarian music scene, with decades of experience playing classical music, jazz, and even electronic music.
